Guest Ratings & Reviews
The hotel is in a lovely location very near Edinburgh's Royal Botanical Gardens, close to the city center and with ample distance for a peaceful stay. The rooms are really clean, well-presented, and offer enough space to move around comfortably, although access to the basement via a stone staircase with no handrail might not be ideal for everyone. The service is extremely friendly and helpful, especially with assistance on navigating the bus system and sightseeing recommendations. The dining options, while good overall, could be expanded to offer more variety. The hotel's facilities are well-maintained, but there were some limitations in the dining choices.
The hotel offers a unique experience with rooms designed like a penitent's cell, featuring high ceilings and large windows with shutters that blend perfectly with the old-world charm of Edinburgh. The shared hall gives a communal feel, with a touch of privacy lacking, making it a retreat for isolation seekers. The service is top-notch with efficient communication and personal touches, although a bit distant due to remote location. The convenient location allows easy access to all the sights and public transportation. The dining experience offers a warm and clean ambiance with a decent range of cold items and hearty breakfast options. The facilities are well-maintained and functional, catering to basic needs.
